Top reasons to live in West Sussex

As well as holding a 29-year record with the Met Office for being the sunniest county in the country, West Sussex has many other wonderful perks. With miles and miles of beautiful countryside, coastline and National parks, the sunny weather and outstanding natural beauty make the perfect combination. Despite only being a short drive from the coast, West Sussex also has excellent links to the capital.

Outstanding natural beauty

Do you crave being outside walking or biking trails with stunning views, or enjoying walks with the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore? Not only does West Sussex have the South Downs National Park to explore, there are also many lovely beaches and charming seaside towns only a short drive away. If you’re looking for a traditional seaside town, we recommend Bognor Regis as it has endless fish and chip shops and amusement arcades on the pier. Alternatively, if you’re looking for award-winning beaches, then head to Littlehampton, this vibrant town always has something going on.

Lovely market towns

Littered around West Sussex, you’ll find charming market towns waiting to be explored. Spend a day in the traditional, vibrant market town of East Grinstead walking down the historic high street lined with independent and chain shops as well as visiting some of its famous historical sites, including Standen and Sackville House. Another wonderful West Sussex market town is Easebourne. Eastbourne is home to the Cowdray Heritage Ruins which are one of England’s most important early Tudor houses. When talking about the lovely market towns of West Sussex, we can’t forget Horsham, which is home to our retirement village, Durrants. On the River Arun, Horsham has the perfect combination of new and old. There is plenty to do from grabbing a bite to eat, to enjoying some shopping or visiting Horsham Park or museum.

Lot of wonderful things to do and see

One of the many great things about West Sussex is the number of wonderful things visit all year round. From taking a visit to the Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre, where you can learn about the industrial heritage of the southeast. The museum holds several events throughout the year, from classic car shows to their popular ale festival, and if you have little ones, they host a range of children's activity days as well.

Or, if this isn’t quite your thing, then why not tour the Ambriel’s family-run vineyards which boast spectacular views over the South Downs? You can visit the winery where you’ll be told how the wines are made, and then, of course, you can head to the tasting barn to sample some of their international award-winning English sparkling wines. If you’re looking for other ways to relax and have some ‘you’ time, then why not head to The Yoga Garden, where you can pick from a range of classes, events and workshops to enjoy while surrounded by the beautiful West Sussex countryside.
