The best places to eat and drink around Leeds, Kent

Where we place our villages isn’t a coincidence, we carefully pick locations that we know our residents are going to love and that’s no different with our new retirement village in Kent; Ledian Gardens.

With restaurants, cafés and bars reopening, what better way to celebrate the launch of our new retirement village than to share some insight on all the wonderful places to eat and drink in the local area.

The Windmill, a classic country pub in Hollingbourne

If you’re looking for a cosy pub with wholesome food and a friendly atmosphere, the Windmill is the perfect place for you. Their menu is continually changing to match the seasons as they use the very best local produce, so every time you visit there will be old favourites alongside delicious new dishes to try.  Alongside your food, you’ll be able to choose from their varied wine menu, with wines from the old world, new world and even some Kentish vineyards.

Fifi’s Brasserie, a new culinary à la carte experience

Fifi’s Brasserie offers an amazing new culinary experience that takes carefully picked, high-quality meat and fish, and pairs it with fresh seasonal produce, roasted over coal. Choose from the set menu or opt for their à la carte menu – there is something for everyone regardless of your tastes. Alternatively, why not visit them for a vintage afternoon tea where their executive chef will bring you an array of delicious finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, cakes and mini desserts, and a choice of steaming loose leaf tea – perfect for a birthday celebration or any other special occasion.

Baskerville’s Coffee House, an award-winning coffee house

With good food and amazing coffee, Baskerville’s Coffee House is the perfect place for a pitstop while exploring Maidstone, or a catch-up with family and friends over a delicious cup of coffee. Everyone is welcome including our four-legged furry friends – they even offer homemade afternoon tea for dogs. Choose from their main menu or treat yourself to an afternoon tea; both menus offer vegan and gluten-free options.

The Sugar Loaves, a traditional village pub

The Sugar Loaves is a 17th century, Grade II listed inn, converted into a traditional village pub that offers everything you’d expect; great food, thirst-quenching drinks and a Thursday night quiz. Why not nip in for a quick drink or enjoy a delicious meal with friends and family. Their traditional menu serves up pub classics, delicious light bites and of course, traditional Sunday roasts. If you’re looking to stop by midday, they have a lunchtime menu to choose from; ideal for taking a break during a lovely walk around the local countryside.
