The Benefits of Moving into a Retirement Village in Today’s World

The thought of moving right now can seem daunting and we understand why, but there has never been a better time to move. 2020 has bought a lot of surprises and has made a lot of us question our future, so if you are considering moving into a retirement village, we’ve listed some reasons why you should move now.

Be part of a community and combat loneliness

One of the biggest challenges this year for many was lockdown. Lockdown meant that many of us were cut off from our friends and families for months – which made for a very isolating and lonely time. Even though lockdown for most of us has ended, things aren’t back to normal but being in a supportive community like the ones in our retirement villages can be beneficial for your mental and physical wellbeing.

Here at Inspired Villages, we have been doing everything we can to ensure that all our residents feel happy while remaining safe. We have hosted plenty of socially distanced activities, from dancing to singing to enjoying a cup of tea’s in our front gardens to daily staff calls to residents, meal deliveries from our restaurants to residents doors, regular newsletters and emails and we even celebrated VE Day, all while maintaining social distancing measures.

Even though we can’t all be together in the same room, there is a real sense of community throughout the villages.

Give your children peace of mind

As we get older, the decisions we make may not only benefit us but also the people around us. You may find as you get older that your children begin to worry more about you, especially now as contact is still limited. Living in a retirement village can give our children and families greater peace of mind as we have staff on hand 24/7 that can help and assist you should you need them. A lot of the worries, including “what if I have a fall living alone” or “I don’t know my neighbours anymore or have a sense of community” simply disappear once you start living in a retirement village.

Furthermore, we introduced a number of services to assist residents and help with their wellbeing during this pandemic, including the delivery of groceries and cooked meals to residents’ doorsteps, daily ‘buddy calls’, and introducing online or socially distanced activities and sports classes. Family members have been hugely grateful for the support we’ve provided their loved ones in these challenging times.

Save money on stamp duty

One of the best things about moving now is that the stamp duty threshold has been temporarily increased by the Government until 31 March 2021, which means that you won’t have to pay stamp duty on the first £500,000 of all property sales, we will then cover the rest above £500,000 so you will pay no stamp duty on any of our properties.

If you choose to move into an Inspired Villages property, we will cover the cost of selling your current property, the cost of removals, cover your legal fees and help you declutter – there has never been a better time to move.

Feel more safe and secure

At our retirement villages, we have a team of friendly staff on hand to provide any help or assistance if you need it. The team ensure that all of the grounds are always maintained and kept secure, we have gates that require codes to get in, so you can be rest assured that while living in one of our retirement villages you will feel safe and secure.

Lifestyle

Our communities are full of people looking to grow by meeting new people, trying new things and embracing life – which creates positive environments. If you are looking to make friends with likeminded people and get the most out of retirement, then choosing to move to one of our retirement villages may be the best decision you ever make.
