Phase 2 of state-of-the-art retirement village complete

Work on phase 2 of Great Alne Park retirement village, located just outside Alcester, to build an additional 44 retirement living cottages, 24 apartments and extensive landscaping including an outdoor amphitheatre, is complete.

Great Alne Park, which is owned by later living operator, Inspired Villages, is situated in 78 acres of Warwickshire parkland and boasts a range of impressive facilities, including a swimming pool and wellness centre, as well as a brasserie, games room, library and in-house cinema.

The first phase of the £52.8 million scheme, comprising a mixture of cottages and apartments, as well as the village centre was successfully completed by contractor Seddon, in June 2018.

Phase 2 has seen the build of a further 44 retirement cottages in two clusters, and 24 apartments over two blocks, bringing the village offering to 164 retirement properties in total.

Inspired Villages has also created an area for recycling facilities and allotments, plus extensive landscaping to create an amphitheatre, croquet lawn, wildflower meadow, walking paths and picnic area.

In addition to phase 2 works, the village has reconfigured the central clubhouse with a new fitness suite and improvements to the ‘winter garden’.  March will also see the opening of an onsite medical centre and village shop.

Phase 3 will see the final part of the village completed with an extra 44 cottages built as well as the completion of the wildflower meadow.  Inspired Villages plans to begin construction of this phase in early 2022.

Jamie Bunce, CEO of Inspired Villages, comments: “Our philosophy is centred around resident’s holistic wellbeing - looking after their physical, social, financial and mental health, encouraging them to enjoy a healthy, happy and independent life.

“Great Alne Park has been already met with high praise and the completion of phase 2 marks an important point in our plans for the future of Great Alne Park, proving additional homes for an ever-increasing market, as well as continuing our commitment to environment sustainability.

We are looking forward to enhancing this exceptional village further next year when we start the third and final phase of the village which will include 44 cottages and completion of the wildflower meadow.”

Jonathan Seddon, CEO at Seddon, said: “Following an extremely successful initial phase, we’re thrilled to have delivered another 68 beautiful new retirement living homes at Great Alne Park. Creating spaces for people to make places and create memories in is what we do best and it’s great to see developments like this come to life.
