Residents raise thousands for St Catherine’s Hospice

Residents at Durrants Village in Faygate, West Sussex, have raised £2,546 after arranging a series of fundraising events in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice who provide expert hospice care and for support people living with terminal illnesses.

As soon as COVID-19 restrictions were lifted this earlier this year, the social committee at Durrants Village wasted no time planning a series of resident events, with all donations going to St Catherine’s Hospice.

Events included line dancing, coffee mornings, barbeques, wine and cheese nights and village quiz nights. Residents also enjoyed musical performances from the Durrants Village Jazz Quartet, Wimbledon Palais Ukulele Band, and Angel Delights vintage vocal harmony group.

The events raised a total of £2,546, with Inspired Villages, the later living operator behind Durrants, matching the amount raised increasing the total donation to £5,092.

Residents presented the cheque to Felicity Parsons, Fundraiser on the Supporter Development Team at St Catherine’s Hospice, who commented: “We’re very grateful to everyone at Durrants and Inspired Villages for their support. Without people like them supporting the hospice, we wouldn’t be able to offer the care we provide for our patients and their families.”

Resident Lindsay Hiley-Jones, added: “The feedback from residents that came to our events has been very positive and I would like to thank all the committee for their hard work and contributions to a very successful cheque presentation to St Catherine’s Hospice.”

Set amongst 30 acres of private parkland with its own lake, there are few more idyllic locations than Durrants Village, which is home to 171 exquisite two-and three-bedroom cottages and spacious two-bedroom apartments, with central facilities, including a gym, relaxation pool, lake pavilion, croquet lawn and library.
