Topping out ceremony at Warwick

The Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Mandy Littlejohn, has laid a commemorative brick at the county’s first purpose-built retirement village, to mark the latest milestone in its construction.

Cllr Littlejohn was joined by two future residents of the new village which is being developed by Inspired Villages alongside Keepmoat at Gallagher Way, Warwick Gate in Heathcote. Mr and Mrs Soreny had their handprints set in cement at the development, to mark the ‘topping out’ phase of the project.

The first phase of Inspired Villages in Warwick will open in spring 2016, offering a collection of 49 retirement apartments in a safe village environment.  All 167 apartments, penthouses and other on-site facilities will be complete by 2018, providing approximately 60 jobs for the local economy.

When finished, the £65 million village centre will offer exclusive one and two-bedroom homes for the over 65’s with a range of facilities for residents including a wellness spa and relaxation pool, gym, deli shop, restaurant and community rooms, as well as onsite social and leisure activities alongside a range of care services.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cllr Littlejohn, said:

"This is a fantastic project for Warwick and from looking around the site under development, I can see there is going to be a beautifully landscaped and spacious retirement village.  More importantly, it’s fantastic that we’re encouraging a new community to thrive in Warwick.  For older people who are perhaps moving into the area for the first time – to be near to their children and grandchildren for instance – it can be challenging to make new friends and the community spirit that is encouraged in a retirement village like Inspired Warwick is hugely important for this reason."

James Cobb, sales and marketing director of Inspired Villages, said:

"This has been a great chance to celebrate another important milestone in this development, with the assistance of the Mayor of Warwick.  As people in the Warwick area are living longer, healthier and more active lives, it’s great to offer a new village community that celebrates retirement as a time for new beginnings.  Our retirement villages are very much about celebrating life and we’re proud to offer people a chance to experience aspirational living with integrated care packages.”

“The new village is perfectly placed with ease of access into Warwick and Leamington Spa, as well as great proximity to the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon and the Midlands.  The village will be a haven of quality and community within this expanding area of Warwick"

Neil Baxter, New Business Director for Keepmoat said:

"It’s great to see the Warwick Gates development achieving this important milestone. Keepmoat is pleased to be working alongside Inspired Villages to deliver this exciting scheme, which will provide independence and tailored individual care for older people."
